DRUMCHAPEL UNITED COMMUNITY

Our Community

At Drumchapel United, we are proud to be at the heart of our community, offering support, opportunity, and inclusion through football. With over 500 players and more than 120 volunteers, we provide programmes for all ages and abilities, from our mini kickers starting at age two to our adult and over-35s teams. Our girls’ and women’s teams continue to grow, and we are passionate about creating equal opportunities in sport. Beyond the pitch, we run wellbeing and mental health initiatives, youth ambassador schemes, and community outreach projects that bring people together and make a real difference in Drumchapel

Our Aims & Objectives

At Drumchapel United, our aim is to use football as a positive force for change in our community. We strive to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can develop not just as players, but as individuals. Our objectives include promoting physical and mental wellbeing, encouraging teamwork and discipline, and creating pathways for personal growth both on and off the pitch. We are committed to removing barriers to participation, especially for women, girls, and those from underrepresented groups. Ultimately, our goal is to inspire pride, unity, and opportunity across Drumchapel and beyond.

Football Leaders

The Football Leaders programme is a 12-week initiative designed for secondary school pupils from S3 to S6 who are interested in pursuing a career in sport. Combining both classroom-based learning and practical sessions on the pitch, this programme provides valuable insights into the sports industry while developing leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills.

Football Champions

The Football Champions programme is a 12-week hands-on initiative tailored for pupils in P4 to P7 who may be disengaged or struggling with regular school attendance. Through sport-based activities, this programme aims to build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills, helping young people re-engage with learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.

School Coaching

Our School Coaching programme offers structured football sessions before school, during lunchtimes, and after school. These sessions focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle, developing new football skills, and fostering teamwork and social interaction in a fun and supportive setting.

Football Festivals

We host two Football Festivals each month at our Donald Dewar facility—one mixed and one exclusively for girls. These festivals bring together local primary schools for friendly competition and community building, encouraging participation and enjoyment of the game in a positive environment.

Club Camps

Our Club Camps run during all school holidays and provide an exciting and active experience for up to 80 young people at each camp. These camps focus on football development, teamwork, and fun, offering a safe and inclusive space for children to stay active, make friends, and improve their game.

Our Mission Statement

Written By:

At Drumchapel United, our mission is to create a lasting and positive impact within our community through the power of football. We are committed to providing inclusive, supportive, and accessible opportunities for individuals of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. From our youngest players in the mini kickers programme to our adult and over-35s teams, we aim to build confidence, develop skills, and encourage a lifelong love of the game.

We believe football is more than just a sport. It is a platform for personal growth, teamwork, and community connection. Our programmes are designed not only to improve fitness and sporting ability but also to promote mental wellbeing, leadership, and social inclusion. We strive to break down barriers to participation, especially for women, girls, and those who may not traditionally have access to organised sport.

Through our dedicated team of volunteers and coaches, we create a safe and encouraging environment where every player is valued. Our wider initiatives, including mental health support, youth ambassador schemes, and outreach projects, reflect our commitment to the whole community.

Drumchapel United exists to inspire pride, opportunity, and unity through football, helping people reach their full potential both on and off the pitch
